Freeborn Group is renowned for selling a broad range of motorhomes and is the leading retailer of new and used Romahomes in the UK.
Because Citroen (and Peugeot) introduced ESP technology on the new Berlingo/Partner a few years ago we are no longer able to use this as a base vehicle to manufacture the Romahome R20 or R25 as extending the chassis would affect the operational integrity of the ESP.
However we continue to source low mileage pre-ESP Berlingo vans and convert these into R20 Hi and Lo versions. This means a prospective buyer can order the specification he most wants in the knowledge that it will then be built 'to order'. In effect this means you get a brand new conversion but on a used van and at a substantial saving to the previous new list price. Typically there are at least four or five vans being converted on the Isle of Wight at any time so delivery is usually under a month for one already in production and around three months for an all-new order. Prices depend on specification, age and mileage but expect to pay between £23,000 and £30,000.
Because the R10 and R30 are built on the standard van without any chassis extension the introduction of ESP does not compromise the motorhome conversion. We are pleased to say that we still manufacture both the R10 and the R30 and sales remain as high as ever.
The nifty size of a Romahome sets it apart from other types of motorhome and all Romahomes are designed to be big enough to use as a motor home but small enough to drive like a car. As all Romahomes are built on Citroën vehicles a top-quality drive is assured.
The R10 is built on the Citroen Nemo van and is intended as an everyday vehicle that is ideal for one person to use overnight, on weekends away and for holidays. Great fuel consumption, easy to park and very good to drive. Nothing complicated and it's simple to use.
The R20 is built on the bigger Citroen Berlingo and comes in two versions-the Lo and the Hi. If you need to park your motor home in a garage or often encounter height barriers the R20 Lo is the ideal vehicle as it is under 2m in height with the roof down. While both the Hi and the Lo allow owners to minimise driving costs without compromising on comfort the R20 Hi offers more headroom and more storage space, lending this neat motorhome an airier feel.
Both models can be built with two forward facing belted rear seats allowing four people to travel subject to payload availability so you really can have the benefit of a car-like experience when you don't need the motor home.
For drivers who need more space and comfort and who prefer a wider range of extra features to hand in their Romahome, the R30 is the perfect choice. It includes wardrobe space, a shower, and the option of single or double beds. Rear seat belts for two passengers are easily fitted and at just under 5m in length the R30 can genuinely be used as a four seater car.
